For Supervisors!

This exclusive and cutting-edge supervisor program meets an important need in the child and play therapy professional community.  It provides a safe space for supervisors to reflect on, discuss, and develop their supervision practice.

Grounded in theory and research, it offers frameworks and models essential to supervision practice.  Supervisors will be supported to consider how they supervise, provide feedback, and manage the unique and complex dilemmas that arise in the supervision of child and play therapists.

Topics that may be covered:

  • The practical stuff – supervision agreements, fees, supervisor-supervisee fit
  • Supervision models of practice – revisiting and strengthening your practice with commonly used supervision models
  • Supporting supervisees to navigate the changing policy climate and impacts on their services and practices
  • Supporting supervisee wellbeing
  • Supervisor and Therapist development
  • Developing supervisee competencies – considering areas such as play therapy process (e.g. identifying play themes and turning points in therapy, therapist use of self), case conceptualisation, developing therapeutic goals, and measuring and reporting on progress
  • Responding to tricky situations that arise in supervision – such as ethical issues, child safety concerns, self-harm/suicidal ideation, family violence situations, working with separated parents
  • Providing feedback to supervisees
  • Other burning topic identified by participants

Who should attend?

This program is suitable for child and play therapy Supervisors of all levels of experience.  Obviously, it is particularly suitable for those in the early stage of their supervisory experience!
