——————————————————————————————————————————————————
As a child and play therapist, there are numerous situations we are requested to provide reports about our work with the child – whether that be verbal (e.g. parent feedback sessions, school meetings, Care Team meetings) or written (e.g. situations involving parental separation or family law proceedings, to Child Safety Services if working with a child living in OoHC).
But do you sometimes feel like a little lost in the forest when it comes to pulling together all you know about the child and their therapy process and/or progress?
This short workshop will offer a process to assist you in conceptualising this richness and effectively presenting it to the adults or systems around the child.
This is Workshop 4 in our Case Conceptualisation and Reporting Progress PD Series:
- Workshop 1: Foundations of case conceptualisation and developing measurable therapeutic goals (Recorded workshop, self-paced)
- Workshop 2: Revisiting case conceptualisation: The cornerstone of therapeutic practice (Recorded workshop, self-paced)
- Workshop 3: Themes in play therapy: Holding all the possibilities (Recorded workshop, self-paced)
This workshop may be undertaken independently of the series, however if you are early in your career or still growing your confidence in your case conceptualisation skills, we highly recommend you register for the Series, as you will gain most benefit from this workshop if you are familiar with the concepts and details discussed in the previous ones.
This workshop is also highly relevant for supervisors in supporting the ongoing development of these competencies in your supervisees.
In addition to a little theory and case examples, we will be workshopping one of your own client cases. So, although the workshop will be recorded, we encourage you to attend live to gain maximum benefit.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Discern the contextual factors associated with requests for reports about your child client to make clinically appropriate and ethical decisions as to whether you will provide the report or not.
- Develop measurable therapeutic goals and identify clinical indicators of progress.
- Integrate your understanding of the child and their therapy process with relevant theoretical frameworks to inform your conceptualisation and reporting about a child’s progress.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This training program is essential for play therapists and other child therapists from various professional backgrounds (e.g. psychologists, social workers, counsellors, OTs). Supervisors will also benefit as the workshop offers a helpful process for supporting supervisees in this area of their work.
POST-TRAINING SUPPORT
To provide a pathway for ongoing reflection, questions and discussion, we have established a closed Facebook Group which all workshop participants are invited to join. All the details will be provided on completion of the training.
